Maisie and Ben have just completed walking The Hebridean Way and had the most wonderful time!
They started at Vatersay, not quite at the official start point, but Maisie and Ben wanted to start from as far South as they could get.
Maisie and Ben were greeted by this wonderful scene at the start – these darling cows and their calves all settled on the sand as the gentle tide was going out. As you can imagine, they were delighted.
Along the way Maisie and Ben walked through the islands of Vatersay, Barra, Eriskay, South Uist, Benbecula, North Uist (birthplace of Runrig) Berneray, Harris and Lewis, finishing in Stornaway with the castle and harbour.
Mum was on hand at all times as she travelled the route in Cherry the Campervan and met up with Maisie and Ben at the end of each walking section where they then wild camped!
This worked wonderfully well as Mum could carry the gear and have a family meal ready each evening for Maisie, Ben and of course Merlin and Pebbles to enjoy. They also enjoyed breakfast together before Maisie and Ben would set off on the next leg of the trip.
What a wonderful adventure it was. Maisie and the family are already very much looking forward to the next one!
